As an Investment Advisor Representative and Financial Planner at Spectrum Financial Services, I bring an abundance of experience from seven years of running my own wealth management practice. As an estate planning attorney, my unique skill set is instrumental in addressing the income and retirement planning needs of my clients. I take a personalized approach, carefully understanding each client's investment objectives and risk tolerances to create balanced portfolios that emphasize safety, growth, and income.
I earned my bachelor's degree in economics from Kalamazoo College and spent four years in the property-casualty insurance business before attending The Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where I graduated in 1999. During law school, I gained valuable experience working at the Sixty-Plus Elder Law Clinic, serving the tax and estate planning needs of lower-income residents. This experience instilled in me a deep appreciation for helping people navigate complex financial and legal challenges, regardless of their economic circumstances.
Post-graduation, I worked as an associate at a prominent estate planning law firm in metro Detroit. In 2001, I made the decision to leave corporate practice to become more involved in my clients' financial lives, which led me to combine my legal experience with comprehensive financial planning. I've also had the privilege of serving as an adjunct professor of law at The Thomas M. Cooley Law School, which keeps me current on legal developments that impact my clients' planning strategies.
I hold industry credentials with the State Bar of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association, and the Financial Planning Association of Michigan. Throughout my career, I've presented seminars to thousands of attendees throughout the metro area, including organizations like AAA of Michigan, ELGA Credit Union, General Motors, ALCOS, Cambridge, and Washtenaw ISD. My practice primarily focuses on the planning needs of those 50 years and older, where my combined legal and financial experience can make the greatest impact in helping clients preserve and transfer their wealth while achieving their retirement goals.
